Bulldog Physical Education

Our mission is to make changes in the lives of our students by teaching and developing a love for fitness and a healthy lifestyle. In the process, we focus on the value of lifetime fitness and the enjoyment of team and lifetime sports, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship. We invest in the partnership with our students in an effort to improve their fitness level and go beyond their personal best. The ultimate goal is to value healthy choices and to incorporate physical activity in their lives. All of our activities are standards based, developmentally appropriate, and include proven concepts of wellness and fitness.

Our program is designed to result in improved motor skills, deep knowledge of sport and strategies, improved fitness level, ability to make smart nutritional choices and appreciation for others and teamwork. We challenge all our students to grow in character, self-reliance, and self-discipline.

We help students to build their self-confidence and to achieve a higher level of health, knowledge, and wellness. For more information, visit our website below.

Madison Middle School opened its doors 60 years ago and welcomed a short, skinny 7th grader who would one day achieve more than he ever dreamed.

Gail Goodrich graduated in 1958 as a 5'1 99 pound 9th grader. He went on to win the Los Angeles City Championships with Poly Tech High School in Sun Valley, two National Championships with UCLA, and one NBA Championship with one of the greatest Lakers teams of all time.

He was honored by having his number retired by Poly, UCLA and the Lakers. He was also elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, UCLA Hall of Fame, and the Pac 12 Hall of Honors.

Our Physical Education building houses our Sound Body Mind Fitness Center, locker rooms, multipurpose gymnasiums, and our staff offices. Madison Middle School is proud to announce the renaming of our P.E. building The Gail Goodrich Sports Center!

Our Sound Body Sound Mind Fitness Center is now open! Thanks to UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind for your generous donation!
