Good Evening, Madison Middle School Bulldogs!

Thank you to everyone who attended school today and we encourage all students to attend school tomorrow.  As a special 'thank you' to all our students who were so attentive and well-behaved today, tomorrow we will allow free dress!  Remember, all students still have to adhere to the standard dress code, with no clothing overly large or tight and revealing and with no negative sayings or pictures.  Tomorrow we expect the strike to continue and students will follow the same schedule as today.  School will end at 3:05 p.m.  Before school, students should continue to enter through the main gate on Hart Street and proceed to the covered lunch area for breakfast to start the day.  We look forward to seeing you at 8:00 am.

    Thank you.

    Susie Parker

    Principal

Good Afternoon. This is Susie Parker, Principal, with an important message for parents and guardians. The safety and students and staff remain my top priority. I am calling to remind you of safe practices to follow during the inclement weather.  Flooding is a threat to life and property that can occur any time of year.  Conditions that cause floods include heavy storms or steady rain for several hours or days that saturate the ground.  However, flash floods occur suddenly due to rapidly rising water along a stream or low-lying area.

A mere 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock over an adult. It takes just 12 inches of rushing water to carry away a small car, while 2 feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles.  It is NEVER safe to drive or walk into flood waters.

    • Allow extra time to get to school during wet weather.
    • Be aware of your surroundings and changing weather conditions.  Know where you can go to get out of the rain if necessary.
    • Walk in a group for safety.
    • STAY AWAY FROM FLOOD CONTROL CHANNELS. Flood channels are also very slippery and steep, making it hard to get out.
    • NEVER ATTEMPT to cross flooded areas and never enter moving water.
    • Be aware that debris may also be floating in flooded waters and can be very dangerous.

School is one of the safest places to be during an emergency.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 818.255.5200. Thank you and have a nice day.

Greetings Madison Middle School families. This is Principal Parker with an update related to the coming week. UTLA and LAUSD have reached an impasse with the union rejecting the latest offer from the district. Therefore, the teachers will begin their strike on Monday. Our school will be open and staffed to welcome students and ensure their needs are met Our administrative team and support staff are committed to minimizing the impact this work stoppage might have on our students.

What does this mean for Madison MS?

First, the buses will be running as scheduled. Pick up and drop off times should be the same.

Second, Instruction will take place. All middle school students are to report to the Covered Lunch Area for BIC.  We will have three periods daily, but no advisory period. Nutrition will come between period 1 and 2 with lunch following period 2.

All athletic events are postponed during the work stoppage. Games and matches will be made up after the strike.

    Tuesday is still a 1:35 p.m. dismissal.

The attendance office and counseling offices will be open. If you are absent you will still need to bring a note.

If you anticipate leaving early, please bring a note to the attendance office first thing in the morning so we can verify the note and have your slip ready. Parents please do NOT call the attendance office to request permission for your child to leave early.
